Understanding Campervan & Motorhome TVs

What makes a campervan or motorhome TV different from normal TVs? Well, there are several factors to consider such as size, power source compatibility, durability, weight and connectivity options. Campervans often have limited space, so consider the size of your TV and its weight - can it be safely mounted without the risk of falling or damaging your van? The power source and connectivity will also have to be considered. You won’t always have access to WiFi or mains when travelling in your campervan so ensure you pick the best possible option for your needs, whether that’s a battery-operated TV, wall mountable or satellite-compatible

FAQs about 12v TVs for Campervans and Motorhomes

Do 12v TVs use less power?

In general, 12v TVs tend to use less power compared to their counterparts designed for 110v-240v AC. As 12v TVs are designed specifically for motorhomes and campervans, we’ve optimised these TVs for lower power consumption to be compatible with limited battery power sources. This often means using energy-efficient components.

Do 12v TVs need a socket?

Yes, 12v TVs will need to be connected to mains. A specific connector is required. All Cello 12v TVS for campervans and motorhomes come with an adapter.

Do small TVs need an aerial?

This depends on how you’d like to use it. If you wish to watch live TV or FreeView, yes, you’ll need a satellite connection. If you’re itching to catch up on the newest episodes of your favourite Netflix or Prime TV shows, then only a WiFi connection is needed.

Will a normal tv work on 12v?

No, a normal TV designed for household use (typically 110v-240v AC) will not work directly on a 12v DC power source in your campervan or motorhome. Check out our range of 12v TVs for all your entertainment needs.
